Restorative Dentistry

Restorative dentistry is a fundamentally important branch of dentistry that focuses on repairing and restoring the functionality and aesthetics of teeth and oral structures. It plays a vital role in enhancing oral health, improving the quality of life, and boosting self-confidence for individuals who have experienced tooth damage, decay, or loss due to various reasons, including accidents, disease, or natural wear and tear.

Restorative dentistry goes beyond merely fixing dental problems; it aims to enhance overall well-being by restoring the ability to eat and speak comfortably and smile with confidence. Using our extensive experience and training, we combine clinical expertise with advancements in dental technology and materials to provide natural-looking, and long-lasting solutions.

Regular dental examinations and good oral hygiene practices are essential to maintain the success of restorative dental work and ensure long-term oral health.

Dental implants

Dental Implants

Dental implants offer a highly researched, predictable, conservative and elegant method of replacing missing teeth, with the patient being provided with solution that mimics as closely as possible the natural tooth. A commercially pure titanium post is placed in the jaw bone and acts like the root of a natural tooth. It is used to support the replacement tooth after a suitable healing period. The replacement tooth or teeth might be fixed permanently (like a crown or bridge) or attached in a way which lets you remove them for cleaning (like a denture).

Implant treatment normally has two stages. First, the implants are placed in the jaw during a highly controlled and precise surgical procedure. Then, when the jaw has healed, replacement teeth are attached to the implants. In some situations it is possible for temporary teeth to be attached to the implants during the same appointment (teeth in a day)..

Any patient who has missing teeth that they want replaced could be eligible for treatment with the use of dental implants. However, your suitability can only be confirmed following a through consultation and examination. After your implant consultation we will provide you with comprehensive treatment options to address your unique concerns,

You can rest assured that your care is in the hands of dentists who are masters in the field of Dental Implantology. Our clinicians are experienced implant surgeons. They lecture Nationally and Internationally on topics related to dental implants and are visiting faculty at various postgraduate teaching programmes.

Dentures

A denture is a removable appliance which is used to replace some or all the teeth. It is usually made of acrylic or a combination of acrylic and metal.

A partial denture is used to replace some missing teeth whilst a complete denture is used when all the natural teeth in a jaw are missing.

Well made dentures offer a conservative and safe solution to help you to eat and speak comfortably and smile with confidence.  A denture can also be used as a provisional treatment solution for patients who are having multiple extractions and/or dental implant treatment.

The process of making a denture involves precise treatment steps to ensure that a comfortable fit and desired appearance is achieved. After your initial consultation, we can discuss with you in detail the length of time, number of appointments and the procedures that will be involved in order to fabricate your new dentures. Our specialists are highly trained and specialised in the art of making dentures.

In certain cases we can also use dental implants to help retain and stabilise the dentures, making them feel even more natural and secure.

Dental crowns

Crowns

Crowns allow us to rebuild teeth which are broken down or weakened as a result of repeated cycles of dental decay and which are restored with extensive fillings.

They can protect the tooth from further breakdown, whilst at the same time restoring the tooth to an ideal shape, appearance and functional position. A crown or ‘cap’ that is placed over a tooth is held in place using specialised dental adhesives.. Crowns can be made from a variety of materials including resin, ceramic or precious metals such as gold or platinum.. Following a thorough clinical examination,, we will be able to advise on appropriate material choices and treatment sequences to achieve a successful outcome.

Following the preparation of the tooth, specialised digital scans or conventional moulds are taken and sent to our master dental technicians who will fabricate your restoration. Whilst your restoration is being made, we will fit a hand-crafted provisional restoration. Before the crown is finally fitted, we always try it into place in order to confirm the excellent fit, harmony with the bite, and appearance. We use the latest adhesive techniques and materials to cement our restorations to achieve the best long-term outcomes.

Crowns and bridges are made of materials that do not deteriorate over time. However, the underlying tooth is still prone to decay and gum disease. Daily brushing and flossing are essential for maintaining good oral health as well as keeping the crown trouble-free.

Bridges

A bridge is one form of treatment that your dentist can use to replace a missing tooth or teeth. The alternative is to use a removable denture or dental implants.

A bridge is a tailored solution that is unique to each individual case. Following a detailed examination your dentist will be best placed to advise you whether a bridge is the ideal solution for you and, if so, what will be the best design and the most appropriate materials to use.

Root Canal Treatment

Each tooth is made of a hard outer shell that protects the dental pulp, which lies within the centre of the tooth and contains blood vessels and nerves. `If the outer protective layers are damaged by various processes such as tooth decay or clenching and grinding that causes cracks or fracture of the tooth, bacteria will enter the nerve space and cause inflammation, infection and toothache.

Signs of an inflamed and damaged nerve may include pain, prolonged sensitivity to heat or cold, discoloration of the tooth, swelling and tenderness of the overlying gums or a bad taste in the mouth.

Root Canal Treatment is required in order stop or prevent any toothache, remove the infected and inflamed nerve tissue and seal the nerve space in order to prevent more bacteria from entering and causing further infection. It is a skilled and precise procedure that will be carried out by our in-house root canal specialist using the latest techniques and materials.. We use 3D x-rays to accurately identify the nerve spaces and microscopes for the maximum precision with the procedure.

Root Canal Treatment procedures are relatively comfortable and often painless. A local anaesthetic is used and it should feel no different to having an ordinary filling done. Following completion of the root canal treatment, the tooth will be restored with a permanent filling. In the majority of cases and because a significant portion of the tooth may be missing, a crown will be placed on the tooth in order to reduce the risk of fracture in the future.
